The refuge Piero Garelli is situated on a hillock near the "Pian del Lupo" at a height of 1970, between the Marguareis valley and the small Sestrera valley inside the territory of the Natural Park. Stop place of the G.T.A. and Via Alpina, it connects the Limoneto place with the refuge H. De Giorgio-Mondovì and is also accessible with the itineraries Limone Piemonte and Carnino. Two botanic stations of the Natural Park can be visited in the immediate neighbourhood of the refuge.

Property of the CAI Mondovì (CN) the present refuge was inaugurated on 13th October 1991 and replaces the previous refuge, which was destroyed in November 1987 due to a fire.
