The history of the Body
The Park of the Marguareis
is one of the first instituted protected areas in Piedmont. It rises in 1978 on a territory of over 2.650 hectares till reaching nowadays about 6.770 hectares. Already from the beginning the body joined together with the traditional protection work also activities directed to the carrying out of international and research projects.
The activities of censur, observation and collection of the data linked to the fauna, and the first interventions regarding the management of the woody and forest heritage start in the beginning of the eighties. Starting from the second half of the ten-year period the works for the construction of the administration seat and the increment of the staff, establish an increase of educational and scientific research projects on the territory. Concomitantly with its growth the park begins with the first reintroduction projects of the roebuck and the deer, which nowadays populate permanent the territory.
