The road of the small villages

A long and nice walk in the low valley of the Colle del Murtè in the hamlet S. Bartolomeo, with small difference in level (400 m) and high expansion (11 km), through chestnut woods, clearing, old abandoned small villages and marvellous panoramic hillocks. The itinerary is completely signalled.

You start from the Colle del Murtè, near the Trattoria dei Cacciatori, and  after a first climb you take a nice path till the chapel of the Pilone dell'Olocco, on the watershed with the Lurisia Valley. From here, following the indications in slight descent you arrive at the small village Fuggin, and then you turn immediately left towards Tetto Nonetta. Then you go down and turn left in direction of the small village Mauri. The path continues in a slight climb, crossing the small villages Biroe and Castel. You leave the junction on the left and proceed till the small village Mauri and then you turn left towards the small village Barril; from here the path becomes steep till the splendid panoramic hillock of the small village Baudinet. Now you can climb till criss-crossing the road that leads to the Mascarone mountain pasture and then you return to the chapel of the Olocco (following the descending asphalt road) or you can proceed following the indications till the small village Colletto, from where you have a splendid view on the Pesio Valley. From here the road goes down and crosses the last three small villages Burdei, Lavandin, Cavalet where you reach S. Bartolomeo and the itinerary ends.

Remarks: it is recommended to bring a car at S. Bartolomeo for the entire itinerary or to do the return as described for the small village Baudinet.
