Trekking of 5 days around the Marguareis with overnight stay in 5 run refuges. It is an itinerary of average difficulty with a development of 53 km and a total difference in level of 2800 m, completely marked, rich in sceneries and unforgettable environments.

I STAGE

Follow the road on the left of the refuge during 200 m. and turn left for the Pian del Creus. You climb steep in the silver fir wood of the Buscaié and you arrive at the Pian del Creus (1 h - 1.269 m). You cross the plain and the brook and you proceed in the valley till Gias Madonna (2 h - 1.653 m). Here you turn right and after a long crossing, which surpass the Gias da Costa, you reach Gias Soprano di Sestrera (3 h 15 min. - 1.842 m);

II STAGE
From the Refuge Garelli to the Refuge Mondovì

Climb from the Pian del Lupo till the hill of Porta Sestrera (1 h - 2.225 m); here you go down till a joint and then you turn left. You pass at Porta Biecai after having walked along.

III STAGE
From Refuge Mondovì to Refuge Mongioie

Go up the Ellero Valley along the unsurfaced road till

Alternative route of the lakes (for very trained excursionists)

Climb from the Gias Gruppetti on the left on a not always clear path till the Brignola hill (2 h 15 min - 2.330 m); first you go down and go along the lake of Brignola and then you go up till the small opening of the Brignola (3 h 15 min - 2.260 m). Follow the marks in the meadows till goig along the lake of Raschera on the left and take the path that goes till the small opening

IV STAGE

From the Refuge Mongioie till the Refuge Don Barbera. From the Refuge Mongioie you go on the contrary

V STAGE
From the Refuge Don Barbera to the Pian delle Gorre
