During the winter months it is possible to explore the upper Pesio Valley and to reach some of the most interesting summits due to snowshoes and climbing-skis. You can face different itineraries with the snowshoes: from the Road of the small villages, easy route even if quite long, to the San Bruno ring, from the naturalistic route to the Pian del Creus. Another route, practicable both with skis as well as with snowshoes is the one to reach the Punta Guardiola through the Cavallo Valley. The itinerary which reaches the Refuge Garelli and arrives at Porta Sestrera is more difficult: the route winds up first through a thick wood over the PIan delle Gorre and then proceeds through wide and open slopes that lead to the Refuge and destination. Always within ski-climbing we can signal the summits Besimauda and Costa Rossa, the Cars and the Castle of the Eagles.

Very interesting due to the complexity of the itinerary, the difficulty and the complex difference in level is the ring which provides the climbing to the Marguareis summit through the Channel of the Genovesi (you need ice-axes and crampons) and the descent through the Channel of Torinesi.
