Marguareis

It is the highest mountain of the Ligurian Alps with its 2651 m and one of the main carstic areas at high altitude of the Alpine arc. The two sides have different features. The northern side which looks on the Pesio Valley is constituted of a rocky cliff, rich in snowy canyons till late in the season and detrital ledges; the southern side is milder where its carstic feature has established the presence of a morphology characterized by grooved fields, dolines, wells and swallow-holes.
