The Missionaries of the Consulate

With the closure of the hydrotherapeutic centre the Monastery was deserted until , in 1929,  it was used as a Summer colony by the aspirant missionaries of the Salesiano institute of  Penango Monferrato.

In 1934 The missionary fathers of the consulate founded by blessed Giuseppe Allamano  restored the buildings  and turned the monastery into a spiritual centre open for all who wanted to stay somewhere they could find serenity and solitude.

It became a place for missionaries to go on vacation and a site for important religious meetings and events. There is also a picturesque ethnological museum which bears witness to the missionary activities of the Fathers of the Consulate.

So after many vicissitudes The Pesio Monastery , through the fathers of the consulate, became once more a fulcrum of Christian Faith , thus confirming the motto of the Carthusians , which, adorning a globe surmounted by a cross states “The cross remains while the world turns”.
