The Carsene Basin in the Pesio Valley includes thousands of caves of different shapes and dimensions with an underground development calculated in some ten or so kilometres. The underground passages in the subsurface direct the waters of the French side, which after reaching the impermeable rocky layers continue the course towards the Pis source.  Numerous caves have also been explored in this system. Among the most important complexes we can mention the Cappa one.
