Fauna

A nature that lives, moves and modifying itself changes the environment.

The park hosts chamois, roe deer, deer, wild boars. The Alpine bird population is very rich and diversified with the cock forcello and the great black woodpecker or birds of prey like the eagle (2 nest-building couples), the eagle owl, the little owl capogrosso, the little owl, the goshawk and the harrier eagle. Some species of Arctic origin can also be found on the territory, the so-called "glacial relicts" like the variable hare, the stoat and the snow-grouse. By the middle of the nineties after almost a century of absence the wolf has naturally returned on these mountains in expansion from the Apennine,  causing numerous changes in the ecosystem and slowing down the disproportionate growth of the ungulates.
