The protection of the fauna provided two main actions: the protection and the re-introduction. Due to the protection activity guaranteed by the security service of the Park-keeper, the population of chamois has almost been increased tenfold in less than ten years. A re-introduction process of the disappeared species due to hunting and the excessive exploitation of pasture like deer and roes has been parallel started, which nowadays have returned to be for all practical purposes the inhabitants of these mountains.

The first re-introduction happens in 1985, the roe one with about thirty head. Nowadays the roe is present on the territory till  1700 m.

The second re-introduction brings a species back on the Ligurian Alps, which was absent since centuries, but was certainly the protagonist of these mountains in the past: the deer. Some head are introduced in 1991 in a limited area of the Park, the " Enclosure of the Canavere", where they are successfully reproduced. Nowadays a few dozen of those animals live freely in the protected area.
