Special nature Reserve Ciciu del Villar
The Ciciu del Villar Reserve, some few minutes away from the built-up area of Villar San Costanzo, near Dronero, represents an area of great interest both for the geological peculiarities, the famous ciciu, as well as for the richness of the fauna. There are a lot of birds living among the thick oaks, chestnut-trees, trembling poplars, birches and sycamores woods, which cover the Reserve. Among the most interesting birds we have the nuthatch, the barred red woodpecker, the green woodpecker, the blue tit, the long-tailed tit, the fire-crested wren and the goldcrest. Among the raptorials we can signal the buzzard, some examples of peregrine falcon which normally built its nest in the neighbouring areas, as well as the little owls, tawny owls and barn owls. Furthermore there are also present some foxes, wild boars, roe deer, weasels, stone marten, badgers and squirrels and some kind of snakes like the asp viper, the coluber, the collar grass snake and the horned snake.
