SS. Annunziata, San Rocco and Saint Anna
The construction of the Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation happened in replacement of the modest chapel of the Crociata Sottana and was finished in 1675 due to the decisive contribution of the population from Chiusa. Further works during the XVIII century upon drawing by Gallo transformed the chapel in an imposing church with a solemn look, with the construction of the bell tower, of the choir vault, of the altar, of the catacombs under the choir and of a sacristy. Starting from the nineteenth-century the church hosts important works of art. To be mentioned the four vault frescoes by Alfonso Morgari, the five choir paintings designed by Morgari and painted by Marchisio and the two big oil paintings on the presbytery by Andrea Vinai and Morgari.
The S. Rocco chapel constructed between 1622 and 1686 is a typical example of Piedmont baroque; it guards a black marble altar by Frabosa, two paintings by Sebastiano Taricco and seven big paintings, which represent the Passion of Christ. On 15th August the population of Chiusa pays respect to Saint Rocco with a big procession and a feast which starting from the chapel involves the entire city centre.
Just outside the built-up area of Chiusa, it is possible to visit the Saint Anna Church, a square plan construction which preserves a very interesting altar with a cycle dedicated to the life of Saint Anna.
